LINEX-CCA annual coordination and co-learning meeting

25 May 2013 Desmond Tutu Conference Centre, All African Council of Churches (AACC), Nairobi-Westlands, Kenya

The Prolinnova Country Platforms (CPs) in India, Cambodia and Nepal held a one-day regional project meeting for coordination of and co-learning from LINEX–CCA (Local INnovation and EXperimentation: an entry point to Climate-Change Adaptation in Asia) funded by Misereor, Germany. Suman Manandhar (LI-BIRD) coordinated this with backstopping support from Chesha Wettasinha (ETC Foundation/Prolinnova International Secretariat). They met in Nairobi, Kenya, on 25 May 2013, just before the Prolinnova International Partners Workshop (IPW). The main issues discussed during the LINEX-CCA meeting were: community perceptions on the impacts of climate change as identified through the baseline studies; local innovation to adapt to these impacts and how it can be supported through a process of participatory innovation development (PID); and capacity building of communities and local stakeholders to engage in a process of PID. The Asian CP partners of LINEX–CCA and the CP partners in the CLIC–SR (Combining Local Innovative Capacity with Scientific Research) project in eastern Africa had a joint session in monitoring and evaluation facilitated by Prolinnova International Support Team member Marise Espineli from IIRR in the Philippines. During the IPW, the CPs involved in LINEX–CCA in Asia and CLIC–SR in eastern Africa facilitated a joint session on local innovation and PID as a means of strengthening resilience of local communities to change. Read more on this session at the IPW in the workshop report.
